Washing clothes the right way keeps them looking new, prevents fading, and removes stains effectively. Follow these laundry tips to get clean, fresh-smelling clothes every time!

1. Read the Clothing Labels

Always check the care labels on your clothes before washing. Some fabrics require hand wash, cold water wash, or even dry cleaning.

2. Sort Clothes by Color & Fabric

To prevent color bleeding and fabric damage, separate laundry into:

Dark and bright colors (jeans, t-shirts, dresses)

Whites and light colors (bedsheets, towels, white shirts)

Delicates (silk, wool, lingerie)

Heavy fabrics (denim, jackets, hoodies)

3. Remove Stains Before Washing

Use a stain remover or detergent pre-treatment on tough stains.

Let it sit for 5–10 minutes before washing for best results.

4. Choose the Right Laundry Detergent

Picking the right detergent ensures cleaner clothes:

Liquid detergent – Best for everyday laundry and stain removal

Powder detergent – Works great on white clothes and heavy soil

Mild detergent – Ideal for delicate fabrics like silk and wool

5. Select the Best Wash Cycle & Water Temperature

🔹 Cold water (20–30°C) – Prevents color fading and shrinkage; best for delicates

🔹 Warm water (40°C) – Ideal for everyday laundry like t-shirts and dresses

🔹 Hot water (60°C & above) – Best for towels, bedsheets, and heavily soiled clothes

6. Use the Right Amount of Detergent

Using too much detergent can leave residue, while too little won’t clean properly. Follow the detergent packaging instructions for load size and soil level.

7. Add Fabric Softener (Optional)

Using fabric softener makes clothes softer, reduces static, and adds a fresh scent.

8. Dry Clothes the Right Way

Air-dry delicate fabrics like silk and wool to prevent damage.

Tumble dry sturdy fabrics like jeans and towels on a low or medium setting.

Shake out clothes before drying to reduce wrinkles.

9. Iron & Store Clothes Properly

Iron clothes while slightly damp for better results.

Hang or fold clothes immediately to avoid wrinkles.
